We are honoured to join forces with the Brewers Guild of New Zealand to bring you this incredible 2024 release, celebrating the best of the best from the 2024 NZ Beer Awards! 

🏆Showcasing 12 Trophy & Gold Medal winners, representing the Overall Champion NZ Brewery (Three Boys), Champion Large (Parrotdog), Champion Medium (McLeod's) and Champion Small (Shining Peak) Breweries, across the 5 fiercely contended Pale Ale categories, this is one heck of a release!🏆

These beers were selected from 695 entries, across 73 breweries, by 28 of New Zealand's and Australia's top beer judges for being “true to style” based on the stringent US Brewers Association Style Guidelines, as well as the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Entry Guidelines.

India Pale Ale: Sponsored by Label & Litho

• 🏆Champion NZ Beer & Trophy Winner: McLeod’s Tropical Cyclone Double IPA 440ml (8.0%): Is big, bold and masterfully melds New Zealand and American hops. A core range superstar, it's a tempest of lush fruit and resinous green hoppiness, drinking soft with a sticky, oily body and smooth, lingering bitterness.
• 🥇Gold: McLeod’s Celtic Warrior Double IPA 440ml (8.0%): Not long after releasing this double IPA, it made fast fans! Loaded with Citra, Idaho 7 and Nectaron, it's all about the tangerine-pineapple flavour and aroma. This goliath of a beer is layered on a soft malt cushion with rounded lingering bitterness.
• 🥇Gold: Eddyline Crank Yanker West Coast IPA 440ml (6.3%): Bold West-Coast style IPA featuring El Dorado and Mosaic hops with a complex malt profile. Emphasis is on aroma over bitterness. Tropical and pine flavours with a hint of citrus-pineapple aroma! Our long-time best-selling classic!

NZ IPA, NZ Pale & NZ Draught

• 🏆Trophy: Shining Peak Detained & Fabulous Bright IPA 440ml (6.0%): From 1917 to 1952, New Plymouth Prison was mainly used to detain apparent 'deviants’ convicted of homosexual offences. Fortunately, those archaic days of discrimination have long since passed, but by acknowledging our history we can look forward with a sense of pride and inclusiveness alongside our local rainbow community.
• 🥇Gold: McLeod’s Amplifier NZ IPA 440ml (6.8%): This NZIPA gets a solid boost from Clayton Hops Amplifire hop extracts including Nelson, Pacifica and Riwaka for extra oomph. This makes for a rock star line up of green over a bready malt base with enough bitterness to lure you back for another round!
• 🥇Gold: Parrotdog Bitterbitch IPA 330ml (5.8%): Our troublesome original release, named for the problematic first brew day which hugely emphasised its hop bitterness. It’s matured and evolved nicely over the years, with us. Big tropical hop flavour from local varieties with strong bitterness from an English hop to honour its origins, all balanced by plenty of malt.

International Pale Ale: Sponsored by HPA

• 🏆Trophy: McLeod’s Blue Sky American Pale Ale 440ml (5.3%): This is an American-style Pale Ale with Talus and Citra hops, so you'll get plenty of bright grapefruit over citrus aroma and flavour. It's all balanced on a soft malt base with golden oats for a slightly moreish note and balanced bitterness.
• 🥇Gold: Three Boys American Pale Ale 330ml (6.0%): A classic American Pale Ale style brewed with generous amounts of American hops giving the aroma and flavours of wine gums and citrus. Golden body with a crisp white head, a perfectly balanced and easy drinking beer!
• 🥇Gold: Parrotdog Falcon American Pale Ale 330ml (5.4%): Falcons stalk the skies, commanding their territory with focus and intensity; a totem for this American Pale Ale. Our interpretation of the style takes modern U.S. hop flavours of citrus and tropical fruit and lets them soar on a light and nimble body.

Juicy/Hazy Pale Ale & Juicy/Hazy IPA: Sponsored by Melbourne Royal + Konvoy

• 🏆Trophy Pale Ale: Beer Baroness Slice of Heaven NZ Hazy IPA 440ml (6.0%): A full noise NZ Hazy IPA, packed full of Nectaron and Nelson Sauvin hop to provide enough juicy tropical fruit flavour to keep your bottom lip from dragging on the ground. An intoxicating aroma of passionfruit, white wine, peach and mango with pungent sticky green herb.
• 🏆Trophy IPA: Bach Brewing Bungy Smuggler NZ Hazy IPA 440ml (6.5%): As Kiwi as a bungy jump in Budgie smugglers, our all-star all-NZ IPA is jammed with new season Nelson grown Riwaka, Nectaron, Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops, all nestled on juicy Gladfield malts, harvested from the Canterbury plains.
• 🥇Gold: Lakeman Mastermind Hazy IPA 440ml (6.4%): Lakeman (little), known for his meticulous planning, has delved into the research to deliver a cutting-edge malt base and a grand symphony of tropical juiciness, coconut, tangerine, and a hint of sauvignon. Was the criminal mastermind planning a Pina Colada?
