SHIPPING POLICY
Delivery Charges
Our beer is all shipped fresh and direct from NZ's best craft breweries. Where possible we look to absorb the courier costs as much as possible in our pricing. Our pricing is as follows;
- Nationwide delivery (non-rural): $6.95 per box.
- All rural deliveries: $14.95 per box
Delivery Locations
Currently we only ship within New Zealand, Chatham Islands and Great Barrier Islands. Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to PO Boxes.
Delivery Times
Every delivery we make comes directly to you from the brewery where it was brewed. Any time stated for delivery is an estimate only.
Brewery Subscription
Your Beer Hug Brewery Tour box is a monthly subscription. We will process your orders on the 15th of each month. If you subscribe before the 15th of the month, your box will be shipped on or about the 17th of that month. If you subscribe on or after the 17th of the month, we will ship the box to you as soon as it is ready. This is usually the first week of the following month, but it can vary depending on what brews are in the box and when they are ready to go (sometimes the beer is brewed especially for us!). Occasionally, your order will not ship until the 17th of the next month i.e. you will wait one full month from payment until your first delivery.
Top Ups or One Off
Every week Beer Hug offers a Top Up or One off box from an exciting brewery around Aotearoa. We work super hard to introduce you to interesting new breweries and brews that will fill your fridge in between the Brewery Tour stops.
An e-mail will be sent most weeks and you can reply “YES” if you want the beer. We’ll then use your credit or debit card details that you have consented for us to securely store and use, and process your order. Easy as that! Your order will be processed within two business days of you responding to the email. Payment goes through overnight and your order is sent to the brewery the following day to be packed and shipped.
Dispatch from the brewery
We aim to provide your beers within 2-3 working days from the date of dispatch. However, as the location we deliver from changes, the amount of time it takes to get delivered can differ. Depending on which island the brewery is located (e.g: North or South Island) and where you live (e.g: North or South Island) will depend how many days your order takes to get to you. Rural deliveries can also take a little longer. There may also be other reasons for delay beyond our control such as a change in Alert Levels due to COVID-19. Expect delivery times of a week or more during key gifting times such as Christmas.
We will communicate with all subscription customers the expected date of delivery in advance of dispatch.
Tracking Your Beers
We track all of our orders and deal with some of the biggest and best courier providers to aim to get you your beers delivered super fresh and in good condition.
To track your beers, check the tracking number issued to you via email (which is sent when your order has been dispatched from the brewery). Click on the tracking number which will take you through to the ‘track your parcel’ section with the relevant couriers. Click track and you will be able to check the delivery status of your beers.

Once your beers arrive
To help your order arrive safely, please ensure you direct your delivery to an address where you or someone 18 years and over is available to receive them. Accepted forms of ID include photo driver’s licence, passport, Kiwi Access Card/HNZ 18+ card. Anyone showing signs of intoxication upon delivery will not be supplied with their order.
We have authority to leave, so please ensure you provide accurate delivery instructions in the event that no one is able to sign for goods received. This can include an area in your residential or business address where unattended goods are considered safe to leave without attendance.
Beers are damaged?
No problem. Just drop us an e-mail at hugs@beerhug.co.nz. Please take a photo of the damaged beers and attach it to the e-mail. Once we have taken a look, and at our discretion, we will sort out getting you replacement beers from the brewery asap at no extra cost to you!
Delivery Hours
Our Liquor License allows us to sell beers around the clock, however we are restricted on the times that your beers can be delivered and also by the hours that our couriers & breweries operate. Generally speaking, these are as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 6am – 7pm (no weekend deliveries); and
- No deliveries Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Anzac Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day or 2nd January.
Holiday Delivery Cut Offs
Christmas & New Year’s Delivery Cut Offs: All orders must be placed by 12 noon 16th December. We will be dispatching orders during the week before Christmas however cannot guarantee delivery prior to Christmas Day.
